Zo kwamen Jakob en zijn zonen
als gasten in Egypte wonen.
God gaf hun bloei in 't vreemde land,
zij namen bijna d' overhand.
Doch niemand vreesde voor hun macht,
zolang men nog aan Jozef dacht.

This is how Jacob and his sons came to live in Egypt as guests. God gave them prosperity in the strange land they almost had the upperhand. Yet no one feared their power as long as one remembered Joseph.
